“It is shameful that Mari Luz’s father has brought himself to complain,” was the reaction of Clarence Mitchell, the spokesman for the McCann couple, in response to the request from Juan Jose Cortés that the posters with the photo of his daughter beside Madeleine should not be distributed.

Telecinco on Friday revealed what it calls the definitive results of the autopsy carried out on the body of the five year old, but the family said they are still to be given the offical results.

There has been new information in the Mari Luz Cortés case, the five year old girl from Huelva whose body was found in Ria de Huelva a week ago.

Telecinco reported on Friday that the definitive results of the autopsy carried out on the child, which they say has proved that she was suffocated to death, and then thrown into the water afterwards.

The autopsy concludes that the child died in the following 24 hours of her disappearance, and that the injuries to her head and ribs were also carried out before she died.
It says that someone covered her nose and mouth until she died, and probably held her tight by her belt, causing a rib to break at the same time.
The child’s father, Juan José Cortés, has called for time to ‘cry in silence’ and says that he will fight to find who is responsible and to see them pay for what they have done.

Police say they think a local person may have seen Mari Luz with her killer, but is too frightened to come forward.

The family on Saturday however commented on the latest articles on the autopsy in the Spanish press, saying that they themselves had not yet been told the definitive results of the autopsy carried out last Sunday, and until they were officially informed they preferred not to comment and to be more prudent.

The case is currently subjected to reporting restrictions by the Instruction Court 1 in Huelva.
